Terra Madre Day 2017
Slow Food Bali was pleased to invite members and friends to Terra Madre 2017, Slow Food’s annual day to promote the diversity of food traditions and production around the world.
This year’s Terra Madre Day calls special attention to Slow Food’s worldwide “Menu for Change”campaign, which brings food to the center of climate change conversation.
In support of Menu for Change’s goal to “eat local”, encouraging us to consume fresh, local, seasonal products, grown without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers, Slow Food Bali was proud to partner with Moksa Ubud in this event. This restaurant not only advocates for good, clean and fair food but also actively supports farmers and producers every Saturday morning, offering them the possibility to showcase their produce at Moksa’s Farmers Market.
We also met with a selected group of players in the food chain who support sustainable agriculture, fishing, and breeding with the goal of preserving taste and biodiversity. A lively event!
10:00 – 10:15: Welcoming by Slow Food Bali at Moksa’s Farmers Market (Bring your own bags)
10:15 – 11:15 Meet Our Local Producers from around Bali. A lively walkabout in the market to personally meet our producers, hear their stories, and sample & buy their products.
11:15 – 12:15 Terra Madre Presentations at Moksa’s new Dojo pavilion. Learn about the exciting development plans for Slow Food for the coming years from SFB Executive Director Silvina Miguel, who has just returned from the Slow Food International Conference in Chengdu, China.
Meet the key players in several local organizations that support local eating, agricultural biodiversity, and sustainable food production, in a conversation with Slow Food Bali Co-Founder Cat Wheeler.
