Slow Food Bali celebrated Terra Madre Day, a Slow Food initiative launched in 2004, that brings the entire Slow Food network around the world together to celebrate local food and promote sustainable production and consumption in our local communities.
Some 30 members and friends came together to be a part of our local Bali momentum, as we joined with thousands of others around the world, to support a united vision for “good, clean and fair” food.
- An informal gathering to share information on the tricks of tropical composting, living soil, backyard poultry keeping, worm farms, cheese making and a chance to mingle and meet with like-minded people. Bring some seeds or seedlings to swap, and an appetite for delicious Indonesian tapas.
- We learned about Slow Food’s ARK OF TASTE program, to preserve unique local species and local food traditions. Help us IDENTIFY Endangered Species or Traditions in Bali. The first THREE suggestions for ARK OF TASTE species or traditions in Bali will each win a PRIZE! Read more about ARK OF TASTE!
- Many people brought Slow Food ideas to our gathering. We heard from members what you would like to help create for more local Bali events & projects in 2015 to safeguard food biodiversity, bring taste education to adults and children, and connect producers with consumers.
