Bali’s Sustainable Seafood

In another edition of “SFB Thirsty Thursday” events, Deirdre Duggan from Masyarakat Dan Perikanan Indonesia, Ibu Gayatri Reksodihardjo-Lilley from Lini Foundation -along with one of the fishermen from their aquarium fishers from Les village- and Hema Sitorus from Bali Sustainable Seafood introduced their program on “Promoting Sustainable Product Through a Domestic Sustainable Sourcing”. The presentation was followed by an open discussion moderated by Slow Food Bali about biodiversity on fish and how to preserve it assuming our role as coproducers of the food system. Living Light’s resident Chef Ibu Siti introduced us to a classic Balinese menu including Kare, Pepes and Sate prepared with slow fish specially and sustainably sourced by Lini Foundation for this occasion. From this presentation, the discussion broadened into the wider issue of biodiversity in Bali in particular and Indonesia in general.
