Spotlight: Bali Sustainable Seafood
Please meet Bali Sustainable Seafood! One of our Snail of Approval members, Bali Sustainable Seafood was established in 2017 to provide high quality seafood for a wide array of local businesses. All the seafood products are wild caught and harvested using sustainable fishing methods, making them the darling of the island’s slow food chefs.
In great news for 2019, Bali Sustainable Seafood has donated ocean style hand held GPS to their tuna fishermen in Seram Island. The GPS is a technology that helps fishermen when they go fishing in Indonesian waters to aid them to find the right position to catching fish and then guide them head home, especially in bad weather conditions.
Bali Sustainable Seafood says, “A huge thank you to all of you our loyal customer: without you this is would not be happened. You are such an important thing to us with taking a part to support the local economic by buying Bali Sustainable Seafood Products. Hopefully, we always working together and fully support the sustainable program and the fishing communities that supply our fish. Not only support the local economy and also protect Our Ocean, endangered species and habitat.”
Sustainability means low environmental impacts on fish stocks and the ecosystems, ensuring continuous supply for today and tomorrow’s generations, as well as thriving fishing communities. Bali Sustainable Seafood works hand in hand with a local Indonesian foundation to support the development of Indonesian handline fishing communities through improved market access and community development. The health of the oceans and the communities that depend on it is a key priority for our business which is why we, at Bali Sustainable Seafood, have made sustainability a core value of our business.
Concretely, Bali Sustainable Seafood support the Indonesian Handline Fair Trade program as well as the on-going Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) for the Eastern Indonesian Handline fishery, working towards Marine Stewardship Certification.
